Middle Tennessee Trails
Fairview Nature Park
Eight miles of single-track, well-marked trails. Great for beginners.

Directions: From Murfreesboro, take Hwy. 96 west through Franklin, TN. Continue on Hwy. 96 to Hwy. 100 and drive west for 7 miles. Turn right on Bowie Lake Drive. Parking and picnic areas are at the bottom of the hill. Trails usually close after rain. Call Bowie Nature Center at 615-799-2484 ext. 820 to see if trails are open.

Montgomery Bell State Park
Two trails: one has five miles of moderate trail; the other has seven miles of more challenging trail with significant hill climbs. Both are tight single track.

Directions: From Murfreesboro, take I-24 west 440 to I-40. Follow I 40 west to exit 182 Hwy 96, then take Highway 70 East to intersection at Jones Creek Road (marked with a dangerous intersection sign). Take a left onto Jones Creek and drive past the Ebbtide factory. Turn right into the parking lot.  Enter the trail and take the second left to ride the 5 mile loop (two-way traffic). The first right on the trail is a ¾ mile out & back to the 7 mile trail. After the creek crossing, take a right at the Y in the trail to access the 7 mile trail. More trails to come! $3 parking fee.

Lock 4
Twelve miles of trails ranging from easy to moderate.

Directions: From Murfreesboro, take I-840N to exit 72B SR-265 (Central Pike) name changes to SR-109. Follow 109 North 15 miles to Peach Valley Rd and turn left. Take Lock 4 Road left. Follow this road until it ends (4 miles), and park in the gravel parking lot near the silo.

Hamilton Creek
Eleven miles of technical, challenging single track.

Directions: From Murfreesboro, take I-24W to the Bell Rd exit. Turn right off the exit, and continue until you see the Hamilton Creek sign. Turn right at the entrance, and take the first right. Follow this road right towards the south end. This is where the trailhead begins.

Chickasaw State Park
Ten miles of trail ranging from lowlands to hilly climbs.

Directions: From Murfreesboro, take I-840 to I-65S to Saturn Parkway Exit 53. Follow Saturn Parkway to Hwy 31 and go South. When you enter Columbia, turn west on the by-pass (412,43) and go one mile. Exit on Hwy. 7, drive north 3.1 miles and Chickasaw Trace will be on your left.

Franklin State Forrest
15 to 20 miles of singletrack.

Directions: From Murfreesboro I-24 to Monteagle, hwy 64 west to hwy 156, go south on 156 for approximately 5-6 miles to forestry office. Park in pull off in front of office, trail straight across hwy. Alternative trailhead is 2-3 miles down 156 at parking area on left (unmarked to my knowledge).
